our old flannel board was falling apart. i made it last year using foamboard and felt. the foamboard flexed and creased. the felt pieces wouldn’t stick to the felt fabric i’d used to cover the board. we needed a new one…desperately. i was struggling on how to make one that would endure the LovINg aBuSE ours would get put through.
then, i found a flannel board tutorial on teach preschool. in it, deborah used a cAnVAs. perfect, right?
i waited quite a while to make it. meaning to grab a new canvas everytime i went to hobby lobby (and forgetting every time, too). finally, i remembered that i had some old canvases in the garage from when i *thought* i was an artist, so i used that.
it was pretty easy. i wrapped it like a present and secured it with a staple gun.
and this time i used fLaNNeL so our felt pieces stick!
it worked wonderfully for a flannel board stories that i created. it’s a take on the very hungry caterpillar. check it out, it’s called the very hungry pumpkin.

I am so into using canvas for EVERYTHING right now. I actually have a stockpile of different sizes upstairs in my crafting supplies and I pulled out a 12×12 canvas and made your bow board this afternoon! I'm emailing you soon!
