if you give a kid a camera

If you give a kid a
camera,
he’ll ask to take some pictures with it.

He’ll
probably go in search of one of his favorite things
to photograph.
And he’ll find
one.

And another.

And another.

He’ll experiment with techniques

And equipment.

Perfecting his art.

When he gets tired of
taking pictures,
he’ll move onto another activity.

Later on, he might
want to look through the pictures he’s taken.

And chances are if you
look at his pictures with him,
He’ll ask you for a
camera.

  1. Looking through their photos is lovely isn't it ~ seeing things from their perspective, and what interests them 🙂 I love that you let Bear take photos like this. Dino Boy also likes snapping up a storm with my camera

  2. My toddler, Wild Thing, loves taking photos and I have done a couple of posts about his photos. I also have started to integrate them more and more into my own posts. The very tight shot of the hearts in this post was taken by him. http://jennifischer.blogspot.com/2012/09/wordless-wednesday-beet-juice-heart-ice.html — I have thought about doing a series and a linky exclusively for/about photos taken by little ones and inviting others who have toddlers/preschoolers taking photos to host with me. 🙂

  3. Haha! So cute!

  4. I love this! Very, very cute 🙂

My dad got my daughter one of the Kid Tough cameras for her birthday and she loves it! She takes pictures of everyone and everything. She has more pictures of the carpet, the ceiling fan, her tv shows, me, Nana and Grandpa than I know what to do with. I've had to talk to her about taking pictures of different things that she is interested in and wants to remember. We had a playdate at our house a few weeks ago with some friends of ours and she was taking pictures of everyone saying "I want to remember everyone that was here and the fun we had!" She's only 3 so she's still learning, but we'll get there!

  6. What a lovely post and take on the If you give a mouse a cookie books.
