today’s in {her} shoes post is by jennifer over at the home daybook. she is a sweet gal that i’ve had to privilege to get to know a little bit better just recently! after you read her post, head on over to her blog and get to know her a little bit better!
I’m so excited to be posting here at Crayon Freckles today. Thanks for having me, Andie! I’ve always been inspired by her blog—not only the mom musings and kid adventures that are posted….but I also find her faith to be very inspiring. I’m a mom to a six-year-old, Charlie, and a two-year-old, Annie.
Being a mom is just one of the many hats I wear….I’m a teacher, too. Of all of the things I do in my life, being a mother is the most special, though. And—if we’re keeping it real here—not always the easiest. I sometimes think my other name is Bad Cop. You know what I mean? At least my husband lets me have a turn being Good Cop every now and then. : ) I also enjoy fixing stuff up around the house and I like to let my kids help. I really believe in letting my kids grow into themselves and appreciating who they are. Three words my kids would choose to describe me? Loving….adventuresome….tough. ; )
The most challenging part of being a mom is that I tend to be very detail-oriented….so I feel like I have to have my hand in everything! My husband is working from home this year and it’s been an adjustment to let go of some of the responsibilities I usually have and let him help me out (but it’s nice, too!). I’m most rewarded by stewardship I feel for my two kids. They are both such unique, fun and special little people and I feel honored to be their mama. Someday they will be all grown up and I will have been a big part of getting them there. : ) I hope they grow up with a strong sense of self, of family and a conviction for what is right and wrong!
