I love looking at pictures of pomanders.  They’re so pretty, but not anything  we’d probably ever make because oranges are a rare commodity at our house.  So when I came across a box of expired orange jello in the pantry, I knew just what we’d do with it!  We made pomander inspired orange cinnamon spice playdough.

To start off, we mixed up a batch of homemade playdough using our favorite recipe from The Nurture Store.  After I got it all mixed up, we added the packet of orange jello and a tablespoon of cinnamon.  The smell was heavenly!!  Then we got it started cooking.

Once the playdough was cooked and cooled, we made our own pomanders by rolling the playdough into balls and sticking black brads and brown beads into it, creating designs just like real pomanders.
What are some fun ways you spice up your sensory play for the Christmas season?
