it’s been spring for about a week now, so that means a spring sensory bin is in order.
no fake plastic-clingy grass like i crazily did here…
no, this year, i thought i’d do something even meSSieR than that…
**grimacing**
i found this cute colored coNFeTTi in the Easter section at Wal-Mart and paired it with some split peas and green rice. we also tossed in some springy erasers, small bitty eggs, and flower beads from the dollar store and the Target 1 spot.
Bear had/has soooo much fun with it, and i’ll admit that i do too. it’s really cool to watch it all fall…
or have it come out of the “cement chute”…
we also did a huNT for the small eggs by the top pink arrow. and then we “picked” flowers (the bead by the lower pink arrow).
the only pRoBLeM? is that this is what the floor looked like x5. this is only after a few minutes….
now, before you start thinking of how retentive i am, i have to say this…
the motto in our house is
if you’re not making a mess, you aren’t having enough fun
i welcome exploration at the cost of having a clutter-free home. stop by anytime and you’ll see what i mean.
but this confetti…ohhhh, this confetti… all in the living area…. stuck to the couch, the bottoms of feet. we had a trail down the hall towards the bathroom and bedrooms that Hansel and Gretel would’ve been proud of. likely the worst choice for a sensory bin…
but, i’ve been blessed with a little boy who loves to clean… especially when it comes to using our little hard floor vacuum. when he was done, he went to the closet, got it out and asked me to plug it in. then he cleaned it all up = happy, proud momma!

Worst activity… cooking pancakes on tin cans over candles with 20, 5 year olds (and one principal hovering with a bucket of water!) haha.
At least your sensory bin was confetti and not glitter… things could have been worse! lol

My first thought was, oh boy, that's going to be stuck to the bottom of their feet for weeks! LOL But you know what? As long as Bear (and you!) had fun, then I guess that's all that matters.
At least your son helped clean up & it looked like he really enjoyed playing in the confetti!
Hooray for vacuum cleaners!!! The cement chute looks seriously fun – my kids would LOVE this!
What an adorable post! I am a messy mama like you, but we got out the cloud dough today, and it was EVERYWHERE! We have hard wood floors through out our lower level, and my oldest plus her little friend dude tore up the place, throwing the cloud dough, then tripsing through it! We are still tracking it everywhere! Lesson learned- as much as I like mess.. some things really are better left outside! lol:)
haha! I'm still picking rainbow rice out of my hair from our play session earlier this morning so I'm feeling your pain – but the bin contents do look pretty

Pretty much every time we do a project with glitter, I end up questioning my sanity. I'm all for making a mess, and actually encourage it most of the time, but when I'm still finding glitter around the house days later, it drives me a bit crazy. Thankfully, my boys aren't into glittery things too much, so those types of projects are few and far between.
Haha, I love making a mess with my daughter too, but sometimes, it just doesn't work out so well. I'm thinking particularly of the washable crayons. Apparently, washable means more edible.:(
This looks like so much fun – I bet you will be finding the confetti for months and months and look back and remember the fun you had.

Ha ha ha, so funny. I like your saying though, so true. Sometimes I have to hold my tongue because I do like a clean house, but still want the kids to have fun.
