i saw a great idea for hot chocolate playdough on Teach Preschool and used the same chocolate playdough recipe from The Nurture Store. i’ve always wanted to make our own playdough, so i thought we’d give it a shot.
it was a fairly easy process. i will say though, that the cooking part is not for the weak stomached. ((totally not trying to be gross or offensive, but when it cooks and begins to thicken up, it slightly resembles throw-up.)) i’m sure that it wouldn’t have been so bad had we made another color 🙂

i offered some coffee cups and marshmallows, but Bear wasn’t interested. instead, he ran to get his tRUcKs. then he played with the “muD“ we made. which was a nice tie-in since we are learning about the letter Mm. i love how his little imagination works. the trucks loaded and dumped the mud.
it was definitely a fun activity! we’ll be making more in february! yay!
This is so cute. I love the idea of "mud" made out of playdoh. I always intend to make playdoh in our house but, somehow, it never gets done. Maybe chocolate will be our first adventure.
I made our own playdough for the first time this past year and we love it. The boys only want to play with the homemade stuff. They use it all the time. I recently made white playdough and added glitter to it to make snow for my middle son to use with his penguins that he got for Christmas.
Looks like alot of muddy fun! I have never made my own playdough, but I do remember a friend's mom making it when I was younger. It was always so soft and pliable.
I tried it once, and vowed I would NEVER do it again…but then I did :). The second time it turned out MUCH better. I agree, the cooking part is the worst. Thanks for linking to Wednesday Pinterest Favorites. I am going to feature this next week.

This looks like a really creative idea. I have tried to make regular playdough a long time ago and it didn't turn out the right texture. I should give it a try again or make some of these flavored playdoughs I am coming across all the time now!
